micro1 edit v2 direction notes

As the creator of the video, I did a deep study of the brand. These two most recent micro1 videos were warm and humanistic, they reflect the style of the storyboard we are working off of. I understand we want to now go 180 degrees from the v1 cut, away from this style. This page has some questions and notes to help us naviaged to the v2 edit, and lock a direction.

Based on images and animation, the new direction is:

  • Faster cut, more accelerating pacing / stronger build.

  • Make it feel less sentimental.

  • A darker, more driving music direction with harder sound design around the lights, engines, cuts, and acceleration.

  • A lower, more authoritative male VO

  • VO that plays more like a sharp manifesto 

  • Keep the imagery largely intact, aside from making the chalk writing feel more natural and improving the astronaut movement. Just make it feel faster/ more exciting.

There is over 80 edits in the ____video that was mentioned in the notes. Some shots last less than ½ a second. I understand the edit pace of our v2 cut should represent this pace based on notes.

  • “ Speed”wise I'd say I was looking for something more similar to the arms race video you guys did for us, with perhaps even a bit more dramatic given we have the cuts with the lights, the acceleration of engines, etc” I am not sure based on the approved storyboards we will have the right and enough footage to pivot the creative to this new approach as the video.

  • the script and vibe of video you guys did for our US video was excellent so more like that

  • Request: “start off bit darker and then get lighter throughout? “ Starting with boy drawing, make it darker?

  • “YES, sharp manifesto is definitely what we're thinking.” A sharp manifesto is a concise, punchy, and clearly focused public declaration that outlines an individual's or group's beliefs, goals, and intentions for change. It is not a fixed phrase with a single official definition, but rather a descriptive term for a crisp, direct statement that gets straight to the point without unnecessary fluff.
